Online Safety
Internet use is closely monitored and filtered in school. However with so many avenues through which children can access the internet these days such as laptops, phones, tablets, game consoles and even televisions we all need to be vigilant about their safety online.
During the long summer holiday, the risks for children to access inappropriate material is unfortunately higher. We have emailed all families and have published our Parental Controls Booklet 2024, to help you all keep your children safe this summer.
Some national statistics:
- 1 in 3 children have reported cyber bullying.(McAfee survey of children 2014).
- 1 in 5 indecent images of children shared online were taken by themselves. (CEOP 2013)
- 1 in 5 children aged 8 to 11 year olds have a social media profile, this rises to 7 in 10 for 12 year olds. Ofcom (2015).

The NSPCC have put together a useful guide to gaming online – when, where and how should children be playing? How do you choose a game for your child? How can you set up parental controls?
Childline and CEOP offer a 24 hour, 7 day a week support line, email or web form for parents and children.
