Who are Friends Of Shepton School?
All parents, teachers, governors and helpers are Friends of Shepton School. They are represented by a small committee of parents who have volunteered their help.
What does FOSS do?
The committee has two main functions:
- First, we raise funds for the benefit of the children. This is done through regular term events, and special fundraising events.
- Second, the committee provides practical and organisational support at the various school functions, which come around as the school year progresses.
Would you like to get involved?
New committee members are always welcome. We meet at the beginning of each term to discuss and plan forthcoming events and occasionally we meet again later in the term to finalise details. Becoming involved with FOSS is an ideal way of contributing to the quality of your child’s early school years.
How do FOSS raise funds?
Throughout the academic year FOSS organise a number of fundraisers which may include:
- Halloween Party for all the village children
- Toffee apples and goodies to sell at the village Fireworks Evening
- Santa’s Grotto and Carol Singing at the village Christmas Market
- Hampers to raffle for the school Christmas Service
- Refreshments to sell at the village Easter Market
- Refreshments to sell at the regular Barrington Market
- Refreshments at the village fun run and 10k run
- Family Easter Bingo at the village Hall
- May Fair – including various stands, teas & coffees, cakes, hog roast and 100 squares,
- Regular cake and Ice cream sales after school
A big thank you to everyone who got involved.
We are hoping to increase the number of fundraising events but we can only achieve this with the continued support and help of parents and friends.
We hope this has helped you to understand a bit more about FOSS, and that you will lend us your enthusiastic support this year with whatever contribution you are able to make.
